چکیده

In this letter, we provide an analysis of the performance of maximum likelihood detection (MLD) over flat fading channels in a wireless multiple input–multiple output (MIMO) antenna system. A tight union bound with an asymptotic form on the probability of symbol error rate (SER) for MIMO MLD systems with two-dimensional signal constellations (such as QAM and PSK) is introduced. Using this analytic bound, performance of the MIMO antenna system is demonstrated quantitatively with respect to channel estimation, constellation size, and antenna configuration.

Performance of Target Detection in Phased-MIMO Radars

In this paper, the problem of target detection in phased-MIMO radars is considered and target detection performance of phased-MIMO radars is compared with MIMO and phased-array radars. Phased-MIMO radars combine advantages of the MIMO and phased-array radars. In these radars, the transmit array will be partitioned into a number of subarrays that are allowed to overlap and each subarray transmit...

Low complexity MIMO detection algorithm

The multi antenna systems offer a much larger channel capacity than the traditional single antenna systems. The price which has to be extra paid is detection complexity. In this paper we examine performance of the low complexity algorithm called zero forcing–maximum likelihood (ZFML) [5]. We find this algorithm appropriate for MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) systems using more receive tha...

Performance Analysis and Optimal Detection of Spatial Modulation

In this paper, we propose the optimal detector for spatial modulation. The new detector performs significant better than the original (~4 dB gain), and we derive the closed form expression for the average bit error probability. The optimal detector of SM shows performance gain (~1.5 −3 dB) over popular multiple antenna system, making it an excellent prospect for future wireless communication. K...

Efficient Near Maximum-Likelihood Detection for Underdetermined MIMO Antenna Systems Using a Geometrical Approach

Maximum-likelihood (ML) detection is guaranteed to yield minimum probability of erroneous detection and is thus of great importance for both multiuser detection and space-time decoding. For multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna systems where the number of receive antennas is at least the number of signals multiplexed in the spatial domain, ML detection can be done efficiently using sphe...

A Multiband Multiple-input Multiple-output Antenna System for Long Term Evolution and Wireless Local Area Networks Handsets

A novel multiband multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna system is proposed. The MIMO antenna system consists of two antenna elements, each of which comprises of three radiators: a driven monopole, an S-shaped strip and an inverted F-shaped strip and occupies footprint of 15x18.5x0.8 mm3 only. The driven monopole acts as a quarter-wave monopole and stimulate higher mode resonance. The tw...
